Alec Smith

Alec Dean Smith, 71, of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 3:03 PM in his residence.

Born December 13, 1941 in Fulton County, Indiana, he was the son of the later Samuel B. and Eunas (Parman) Smith.

Dean retired from General Motors but his real passion was farming. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran, member of the American Legion Post #60 and V.F.W. Post #3790.

Surviving are three daughters, Melanie (Jeff) See, Galveston; Maria Kathy (Dale) DeWitt, Frankfort, IN; Melinda (Scott) Rogers, Royal Center; two sons, Samuel (Paula) Smith, Logansport; Dean (Kathy) Steindl, Japan; three sisters, Velma Harlan, Converse, IN; Shirley Lucas, Akron, IN; Judy Spencer, Adamsborro, IN; one brother, Jerry (Willa) Smith, Lucerne, IN; 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa McCall, one granddaughter, four brothers, Everett Bill, Samuel and Ronnie and one sister, Freida.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
