Services for Arleen E. Smith, 68, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 12:43 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 16, 1938, in Logansport, she was the daughter of John and Lydia Eleanor Beasey Ogborn. She also was the stepdaughter of Keith A. Hunt. She was married June 23, 1956, in Royal Center, to Walter J. “Junior” Smith, who survives.

A 1956 graduate of Royal Center High School, Arleen retired in 2004 after 15 years of service at the Logansport State Hospital. She also had worked 15 years as manager of the Logansport High School cafeteria.

She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790 Ladies Auxiliary.

Arleen was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo and was in a card club with her friends. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports and performing arts.

Also surviving are one son, Tim Smith and his wife, Bryn, Indianapolis; three daughters, Tammy Smith and her companion, Mike White, Indianapolis, and Cindy Wengert and her husband, Greg, and Jill Rowe and her husband, Don, all of Logansport; her mother, Lydia Eleanor Hunt, Logansport; one sister, Janis K. Everidge, Kokomo; and grandchildren, Casey Smith, Chicago, Jordan Smith and Alex Warren, both of Indianapolis, and Derek and Kristen Wengert and Kellyn, Andrew and Mallory Rowe, all of Logansport.

The Rev. Bruce Vernon will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where a VFW Auxiliary service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
