Arthur Hess

Arthur Lee Hess, 80 of Logansport passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Marion Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion, IN.

Born on February 10, 1936 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Bert H. and Sadie S. E. (Smith) Hess. On July 6, 1957 in Logansport he married Sondra A. Wilson who preceded in death on June 18, 2008.

Arthur was a United States Army Veteran and retired from the Logansport Fire Department. He also worked for the post office for 13 years, riding the mail train from Chicago to Cincinnati. Art was a member of the Logansport Shrine Club, Indianapolis Murat Temple and the Tipton Masonic Lodge.

Surviving  him are three daughters, Cathy Miller, Royal Center; Sonia (Jeff) Roach, Pittsboro, IN; Susie Shea, Brownsburg, IN; two sons, Mark Hess, Indianapolis; Bart Hess, New York, NY; grandchildren, Kayla Miller, Carson Miller, Ty Roach, Levi Roach, Paige Shea, Parker Shea, Zachary Hess, and Courtney Hess; two sisters, Alice Marsh and Sharon Brown, Both of Logansport.

Arthur was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Evans and Jane Pursch; and three brothers, Dennis L. Hess, Thomas L. Hess and his twin brother Benny D. Hess.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Upton officiating. Burial with full Military graveside rites will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, also in the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service held at 6:30 PM.
