Arthur James âJimâ Hickey, 77, Lucerne, died at 2:46 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1933, in Cass County, he was the son of John Edmund and Cecelia Baker Hickey. He was married June 18, 1955, in the Lucerne Parish House, to Mary Louise Snider.
Jim retired from GTE after 30 years of service. He also worked for Cass County Weights and Measures.
He was a 1951 graduate of Lucerne High School. Jim was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lucerne, life member of the VFW Post 1121 and American Legion Post 60. He enjoyed playing euchre and square dancing.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Hickey, Lucerne; daughter, Lisa Birnell and husband, Rick, Lucerne; son, John Hickey and wife, Anne, Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Marissa Hickey, Fort Wayne, Trevor Hickey, Lafayette, Abigail Birnell and Jonathan Birnell, both of Lucerne, Delaney Hickey, Maggie Hickey, Jamie Hickey and Jackson Hickey, all of Fort Wayne; sister, Sally Farrer and husband, Tom, Lucerne; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Allen Hickey; and one granddaughter, Bethany Hickey.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Cree officiating.
Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
