Services for Arthur A. Russell, 83, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 5:25 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born June 15, 1923, in Logansport, he was the son of Arthur and Lillian Noble Russell. On Dec. 16, 1949, in Wheeling, he was married to Betty Frances Arion, who preceded in death Dec. 3, 2006.
Mr. Russell retired from Rockwell International, where he worked in the shipping department for 37 years.
Art was a member of the American Legion Post 60, where he had served as historian since 1946, Voiture 729 40&8, Life Member of the VFW Post 3790. Arthur was a veteran of the Navy where he received a Purple Heart while serving during World War II. Art attended Main Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Judith Massey and her husband, John, Logansport; one son, Steven Russell and his wife, Annette, Logansport; one sister, Maggie Achtinson, Griffin, Ga.; three brothers, LeRoy Russell and his wife, Carol, Logansport, Don Russell, San Francisco, Calif., and Paul Russell, Logansport; three grandchildren, Amy Russell and her fiancé, Jeff Welker, Royal Center, Holly Bridge and her husband, Bobby, Avon, and Josh Russell, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Dell and Maxine Stigers, three brothers, Bobby Russell, James Russell and a stillborn infant.
Chaplain Joyce Brooks will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Indiana.
