LOGANSPORT â Asa Alfred Corn, 88, Logansport, died at 4:47 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born March 23, 1923, in Dora, he was the son of Benjamin and Hazel Bitzel Corn. He was married Sept. 6, 1947, in New Albany, to Betty L. Kilgas.
Asa retired from Conrail Railroad in 1984 after 37 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, life member of VFW Post 3790 and member of Eagles Lodge 323. He enjoyed walking at the mall and the railroad gatherings at the VFW.
Surviving are wife, Betty L. Corn, Logansport; sons, John Corn, Gerald Corn and William Corn, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Jason Corn and wife, Susan, McGrawsville, Gerald Corn Jr. and wife, Heather, Logansport, Mitchel Corn and wife, Joanne, Huntertown, JeanAnne Pierce and husband, Tim, Huntertown, Andrew Corn and wife, Yael, Lacey, Wash., and Allison Corn, Portland, Ore.; sisters, Eloise Brewer, Wabash, Katheran Gudas, Fort Wayne, and Jackie Wilson and husband, Bob, Wabash; brothers, James Corn, Wabash, Gene Corn and wife, Phyllis, Amboy, and Junior Corn and wife, Bonnie, Lagro.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ida Mae Reese, and two brothers, Benny and Lester Corn.
Graveside services, with full military rites, will be at 2:15 p.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Gundrum Funeral Home.
