Barbara E. James, 92, Logansport, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at The Arbor by Millerâs Merry Manor in Logansport.
Born April 15, 1919, in Monticello, she was the daughter of Bill Griffin and Hazel Simons. She was married Nov. 8, 1940, in Lafayette, to John O. James, who preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1986.
Barbara was formerly employed at SS Kresge Department Store, Arlanâs Department Store, the Golden Rule and Happy Burger West.
She also had worked for Area Five.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the YMCA.
Barbara was an avid artist.
Surviving are daughters, Judy Berkshire and husband, Charlie, and Valerie Fromelius and husband, Peter, all of Logansport; son, Dennis James, Binghamton, N.Y.; half-sister, Bambi Fleming and husband, Michael, Fishers; seven grandchildren, Brian James, Brent James, Shaun Kreighbaum, Tracy Benson, Andrew Benson, Scott Benson and Jerri Ann Hayes; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry DeVos officiating.
Friends may call one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
