Bert Eugene Elpers, 80, Kewanna, died at 6:53 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in Hickory Creek Health Care, Winamac.
Born Feb. 9, 1932, in Logansport, he was the son of Doremus Bebee Elpers and Margaret Grauel. He was married June 14, 1953, in Logansport to Shirley J. Wray.
Bert retired in 1994 from National Friction. He enjoyed bowling and watching football and NASCAR. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley J. Elpers, Kewanna; daughters, Becky Stanton and husband, Harold, Lucerne, and Sarah Zeider and husband, Duke, Logansport; sons, Tim Elpers and wife, Pam, Walton, and John Elpers and wife, Anna, Logansport; brother, Carl Elpers, Logansport; sister, Marilyn Lowe and husband, Bill, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffery B. and Larry Joe
Elpers; two brothers, Ed and Charlie Elpers; and one great-granddaughter, Lexi Stanton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor John Mangum officiating.
Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
