Bertha Stanton

Bertha Marie Stanton, 97, Logansport, died at 10:58 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born July 23, 1914, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Edward and Jennie Lantz Wilburn. She was married Aug. 11, 1932, in Logansport, to Arthur J. Stanton Sr., who preceded her in death in 1956.

Bertha retired from the Logansport State Hospital after 18 years of service.

She was a member of Helm Street Church of God.

Surviving are daughter-in-law, Wanda Stanton, Kentland; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Arthur J. Stanton Jr.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; three brothers; and six sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Sue Spurlin officiating.

Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland, where graveside services will be held at 1 p.m.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
