Betty Hankins

Betty J. Hankins, 98, of Logansport, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on May 20, 1922 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, she is the daughter to the late Leland W. and Laura (Brotherton) Smith.  On December 8, 1943 in Logansport, she married Earl “Hank” M. Hankins who preceded in death on April 17, 1998.

Betty had worked at J.C. Penney. She also spent time as a cook for Nead Elementary School.

Surviving are two children, Joyce (David) Sutton of Galveston; John (Sharon) Hankins of Leo, IN; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, JaNay Head; a son, Jerrol Hankins; and step mother Amy Reynolds.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Weil officiating. Burial will be in Metzger cemetery near Peru.

Visitation will be from noon until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Life Gate Church.
