Services for Charles âEdâ Decker, 75, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at 2:30 a.m. in his residence.
Born Sept. 23, 1931, in Chicago, he was the son of Roy H. Decker and Velma L. Mills.
He was married June 30, 1950, to Joan Dempsey, in his wifeâs grandfatherâs home in Logansport.
Decker was employed by the Indiana Motor Bus for seven years before retiring from Valley Tool and Die in 1987.
He was a graduate of Logansport High School and a member of Cross-Wind United Methodist Church.
He was the past master of the Orient Lodge 272 in 1958 and a 54-year member of the Tipton Masonic Lodge 33. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790 and American Legion Post 60.
Ed was an avid John Wayne fan and enjoyed watching his collection of films. He also enjoyed following the career of Bob Knight.
Surviving are wife, Joan Decker, of Logansport; son, Roy H. Decker and wife Donna of Pendleton; one son, Mark E. Decker and wife Carol of Fort Wayne; one daughter, Cathy A. Healey of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jamie Chapman, Stephanie Decker, Michelle Decker, Shannon Healey, Kendall Healey and Royce Decker; two great-grandsons, Graham Chapman and Hardy Chapman; one sister, Patricia Anderson of Elkhart; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Decker; one sister, Betty Clayton; and one brother, Dick Decker.
The Rev. Gary Lewis will officiate at the services. Burial with full military graveside rights will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.
