Services for Charles E. Doran, 91, New Waverly, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, in Millerâs Merry Manor in Logansport.
Born Nov. 22, 1916, in Walton, he was the son of Edward Arwood and Wilkie Murl Waggaman Doran. He was married Jan. 27, 1940, in Walton, to Sarah V. Shaw, who preceded in death April 10, 2007.
A 1936 graduate of Onward High School, Charles was retired from Kaiser Chemical Fertilizer Company (formerly Kingsbury Fertilizer) in Peru.
He was a member of New Waverly United Methodist Church, Walton Masonic Lodge 423, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Past Governor and held other chairs of the Logansport Moose Lodge 232 from which he received the highest honor of The Pilgrims Degree of Merit in 1983. Charles was an avid fisherman and along with his wife, enjoyed camping at Lakeview Campground for over 25 years. He also enjoyed having a garden, carpentry work, hunting, reading and watching Purdue and IU sports.
Surviving are son, Richard Doran, El Paso, Texas; daughters, Gloria Ott and husband, Gary, Logansport, and Sally Karkkainen and husband, Steven, Schofield, Wis.; grandsons, Jim Doran and wife, Mary, and Tom Doran, all of El Paso, Texas, John Ott, Avondale, Ariz., and Dan Karkkainen and wife, Deanna, Hatley, Wis.; granddaughters, Dana Ott, Logansport, Diana Walls and husband, Ron, West Pueblo, Colo., and Lisa Kipina and husband, Ken, Calumet, Mich.; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Martha âEstherâ Swing, and one daughter-in-law, Ingrid Doran.
The Rev. Keith Schreffler will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. There also will be a Masonic Lodge Service held at 7 p.m. and a Gold Coat Moose Lodge Service held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department.
