Services for Charles Richard “Dick” Rowe, 86, Logansport, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Presbyterian Church.

He died at 6:32 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, in Memorial Hospital, Logansport.

Born March 5, 1923, in Wolcottville, he was the son of Walter Rowe and Grace Matthews. He was married on Nov. 15, 1942, in Milford, to Mary Jane Shuder.

He retired from First Federal Savings and Loan after 29 years of service.

Mr. Rowe graduated from Wolcottville High School, South Bend College of Commerce, and Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He taught band and choir at Lucerne and Wolcottville High Schools. He served three years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, where he was an elder and a former choir director for 29 years.

As a community servant he served on the Pastoral Counseling Board, Love Inc. Board, Salvation Army Board, Noon Kiwanis Club and was a former Meals on Wheels driver. In 1991, he was the recipient of the Pharos-Tribune Good Neighbors Award. He loved the Lord, family and friends. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and music was a major part of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Rowe, Logansport; son, Donald Rowe and wife Jill, Logansport; daughter, Janet McCaslin and husband Mike, Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Audrey and Carson McCaslin and Kellyn, Andrew and Mallory Rowe; brothers, Glenn Rowe and wife Evelyn, Kendallville, and Robert Rowe, Winter Haven, Fla.; Jean Rowe, Winter Haven, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Doug Mankell will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials may be made to the music fund at Calvary Presbyterian Church.
