Services for Chuck Siddall, 82, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Gundrum Funeral Home.
Surrounded by family, Chuck passed away Monday, July 4th at 10:53 A.M. at St. Vincentâs Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief stay.
Born January 25, 1929 in Logansport, he was the son of Ira and Gracie Siddall. He may have been an only child, but had many âneighborhood brothersâ including the DâAndrea and Chapman boys who were life long friends.
On May 2, 1948, Chuck was married to Mary Lou Cramer at the Winamac United Methodist Church. Chuck and Mary were devoted parents. They supported their childrenâs many school and church activities. They were their biggest supporters. Mary preceded Chuck in death in March of 1993.
On September 17, 1996 Chuck married Teddy Lowry of Logansport. They shared a love of their children and enjoyed making fun memories with their family. Chuck was Teddyâs best friend.
Chuck was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He valued education and was especially proud of the post graduate academic pursuits of all his grandchildren.
Chuck quit high school to join the Army and served his tour of duty in the Pacific Theater. After his service to his country Chuck was hired as a fireman for the Pennsylvania Railroad in January of 1947 and became an engineer in 1951. In 1991 he retired from Conrail after 43 years of service. He was a proud member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He made many friends during his years of service and looked forward to their Railroad Breakfasts.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He made many hunting trips to Wyoming with family and friends.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters: Vicki Austen (husband, James H.) of Logansport, Cindy Mosier of Danville, IN and one son, Charles Terry Siddall (wife, Sharon) of Danville, IN; Grandchildren: Laura Austen of Columbus , OH, Katie Austen Bright (husband, Dr. Drew Bright) of Indianapolis, Jeff Austen of Terre Haute, Mary Megan Letourneau (husband, Dan) of Brownsburg, Angela Letourneau (husband, Mike) of Danville, IN, Charles Parker Siddall of Boston, MA and Mason Ira Siddall (wife, Drew) of Wabash. Great granddaughters: Tayler Letourneau, Gabrielle Letourneau, Sarah Letourneau, Danielle Letourneau, Madelyn Letourneau, Mary Emma Bright, and great grandsons- Michael Letourneau III and Nolan Wayne Letourneau.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 P.M. on Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral chapel. Reverend Dr. George Plasterer will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cross-Wind United Methodist Church where Chuck was a member.
