Clarence M. “Bud” Bechdol, 81, Twelve Mile, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born Oct. 1, 1930, in Logansport, he was the son of Homer C. Bechdol and Edith Leona Humphrey. He was married Dec. 10, 1950, in Star City, to Margaret Ann Bonnell, who preceded in death Sept. 29, 2010.

Bud retired from Wilson Foods, and he also farmed.

A 1949 graduate of Logansport High School, Clarence was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post

3790 and American Legion Post 60. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 232. He enjoyed camping, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching their sporting events.

Surviving are daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Herrold and husband, Mick, Twelve Mile; sons, Michael Bechdol and wife, Ruth Ann, Cedar Hill, Texas, and John Patrick Bechdol and wife, Liz, Cornelius, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Justin Herrold and wife, Alicia, Logansport, Amanda Moon and husband, Josh, Fort Wayne, Stacy Herrold and wife, Andrea, New Haven, John Patrick Bechdol Jr., Atlanta, Ga., James Bechdol, Cornelius, N.C., Jordon Bechdol, New York City, and Emily Bechdol, and Zachary Bechdol, both of Cedar Hill, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Alexsa Herrold, and Makayla and Maddox Moon; sister, Mary Ann Zimmerman, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joe Bechdol.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Twelve Mile, with Pastor Teri White officiating. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today and one hour before services Monday at Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church building fund.
