Darrell K. DeWitt, 79, Logansport, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 in Logansport Memorial Hospital, Logansport.
Born March 3, 1932, in Walton, he was the son of Neil DeWitt and Ethel E. Nice. On June 3, 1956, in Logansport, he was married to Shirley A. Hamilton, who survives.
A 1950 graduate of Metea High School, he attended First United Methodist Church. He was retired as a truck driver from Louisville Cement Co.
Mr. DeWitt was a U.S Army veteran. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 3790.
Also surviving is a son, Randy DeWitt and wife, Vickie, Logansport; daughters, Tammy Allison and husband, Herb, Logansport, Shelly Heath and husband, Rick, Logansport, Lisa Cooler and husband, Smittie, South Carolina; brothers, Dale DeWitt and wife, Diane, Lucerne, Donnie DeWitt, Twelve Mile, and James âJimâ DeWitt, Logansport; sister, Judy DeWitt, Logansport, and Charlene Warner, Logansport; granddaughters, April Zartman and husband, Sean, Logansport, and Heather Harrison and husband, James, Logansport; grandson, Jeremy Lewis and wife, Carla, Carmel; granddaughters, Crystal Craig and husband, James, Galveston, Kayla Allison, Arkansas, and Alisha Allison, Indianapolis; grandson, Dustin Heath and wife, Julie, Amboy; granddaughter, Ashley Weathers, Lafayette; grandsons, Wesley Cooler and Alex Cooler, both of South Carolina; and 12 great-granddaughters.
One brother, Eugene DeWitt, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home. Pastor Dean Fager will officiate.
Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
