Dean E. Kiser, 84, Logansport, died at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport. He was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Lakeside, to Burley Kiser and Marie Grafton. On April 30, 1944, in Wolcott, he married Mary Evelyn Towe, who preceded in death June 24, 1998.
He retired from the Logansport State Hospital as the supervisor for the carpenter department and farmed.
Dean was a Member of the Baptist Temple where he served on the Board of Trustees. He loved working with wood and in his yard. He also enjoyed making trinkets and handing them out. His favorite was his “dime and pin.”
He is survived by a son, Ronald L. Kiser and wife Barb, Kokomo; daughters, Sandra L. Ricci and husband Leonard, Logansport, and Debra K. Cripe and husband Michael, Logansport; grandchildren, Joyce Mossholder and husband Dennis, Monon, Kelly Minks and husband Andy, Logansport, Vicky Damon and husband Chad, Kokomo, Annette Kiser, Kokomo, Michael Cripe and wife Carrie, Royal Center, Curt Byroad and wife Shannon, Buffalo, Dan Byroad and wife Gracie, Pulaski, Tim Byroad and wife Nikki, Otterbein, Mark Ricci and wife Amy, Logansport, Rick Ricci and wife Lisa, Logansport, and Lenny Ricci and wife Deanna, Logansport; great-grandchildren, Gavin Dean and Mackinzie Damon, Alex and Natalie Minks, Gage, Hailey and Addie Cripe, Justin and Dakota Byroad, Bailie and Hailie Byroad, Nellie Byroad, Kim and Brea Mossholder Brandy and Brandon Mannies, Andrew, Amanda, and Nicholas Ricci and Samantha Ricci; great-great-grandchildren, Maryia and Daniel Mossholder; brothers, Lee Kiser and wife Merlene, Star City, Merle Kiser and wife Judy, Munster, Harold Kiser and wife Sheri, Lafayette, Ralph Kiser and wife Barb, Star City, and Rex Kiser and wife Bonnie, Illinois; sisters, Dolly Miller, Lafayette, Ruth Ann Wentz and husband Dick, Brownsburg, and Nancy Bechtel and husband George, Kokomo; sisters-in-law, Flora Mae Kiser, Hammond, Lois Kiser, Paris, Texas, and Frances Kiser, Royal Center; brother-in-law, Truman Baker, Mercedes, Texas; a special niece, Sharon Aquillo and husband Ray,
Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Marie Baker, and three brothers, Chet Kiser, Paul Kiser, and Bob Kiser.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday in the Gundrum Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Wade officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
