Delbert R. Shriver, age 88, of Walton, passed away Sunday August 28, 2022. He had been a resident of McKinney Place since 2020. He was born August 5, 1934, in Logansport to the late Raymond and Mary (Jester) Shriver.
Delbert was a life-long farmer. According to him, he never worked a day in his life because he enjoyed what he did. He was involved in many community interests, but insisted there be no bragging. So we won't list them. If you know Delbert, you know!
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Beth (Jim) Shanks, Camden; Rosie (Alex) Gonzalez, Lafayette; son Dan Shriver, TX; one sister, Earline (Chuck) Jones, MI; one brother, Joe (June) Shriver, PA; sister-in-law, Barbara Shriver, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Matt Miller, Grant Gonzalez, Lydia Gonzalez and Jack Gonzalez; one great grandchild, Carter Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Clifford Shriver and one grandchild, Ben Miller.
Delbert's favorite saying by Dr Seuss was "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened". To honor his wishes there will not be any services, but a private gathering will be held at a later date.
