Dennis E. Miller, 62, Galveston, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. Born Jan. 15, 1945, in Logansport, he was a son of Earl and Opal (Smith) Miller. On Sept. 7, 1963, in Hickory Grove Parsonage in Carroll County, he married Joyce A. Rodgers.
He retired from General Motors in 2006 after 27 years of service as a tool and die maker. Dennis also owned and operated Miller Machine Shop.
Dennis was an avid builder and racer of Micro Midgets, member of United Auto Workers Local #292, National Modified Midget Association Hall of Fame, Galveston American Legion and was a former Mechanic of the Year recipient. He enjoyed fishing and was very talented when it came to building, fixing or repairing anything.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. Miller, Galveston; daughter, Amy Miller, Galveston; a brother, Kenny Miller and wife Lorine, Indianapolis; his mother, Opal Miller, Logansport; two granddaughters, Maggie Peacock and Randi Lyn Miller; two grandsons, Jacob Miller and Kalen Linback.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Miller.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery, Logansport. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gundrum Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.gundrumfuneralhome.com.
