Don Elmer Plank, 80, Walton, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his
residence. Born Feb. 9, 1932 in Cass County, he was the son of
Elmer O. Plank and Pearl E. Schwaim. On Aug. 21, 1954, in Walton,
he married Betty Joan Small, and she survives.
He was a farmer. He was a member and elder of Calvary
Presbyterian Church, also a life member and past Grande Chef of
40 & 8, life member of American Legion Post 418, and life member
of V.F.W. Post 3790. Don was a United States Army Veteran serving
in Korea. He was a member of the past Grande Chefs Club,
National Box Car Association, and he was also a Kentucky Colonel.
Don enjoyed to fish, hunt and spend time with his family, especially
his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include wife Betty Joan Plank, Walton; son Tony Plank and
wife Tina, Walton, daughter Teri Lohning and husband Jeff, Walton,
granddaughter Andrea Younts and husband Mitch, Walton;
grandsons Nate Plank, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Tee Plank,
Walton; granddaughters Mallory Wicker and husband Brandon,
Walton, and Shannon Beck and husband Cory, Wichita, Kansas;
great-grandchildren Jaden, Kennedy and Brogen Younts, Walton,
Faith Mohr, Walton; and sister Crystal Newburn, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Hay, a sister, Frances
Plummer and husband Herbert, and a brother-in-law, Edward
Newburn.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home,
with Pastor Doug Mankell officiating.
Burial will follow in Walton I.O.O.F Cemetery, Walton. Friends may
call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Gundrum Funeral Home. There
will be a 40 & 8 service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Calvary
Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.
