Donald M. Carter, 81, Logansport, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 7:45 am in his residence.
Born on January 1, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to the late James H. and Marion E. (Kelley) Carter.
On January 1, 2001 in Peralta, NM he married Patricia McClure who survives.
Don was the former owner and operator of G.M.S. Commercial HVAC Service in Los Lunas, NM prior to his retirement in 2000. Don has lived in Logansport for nine years and while living in Logansport he worked as a custodian for the McHale Complex at Riverside Park and was a volunteer driver for meals on wheels. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Board. Don was a member of United Church Mens Chorus.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry M. Carter, Augusta, GA; James H. Carter II, Albuquerque, NM; four daughters, Carlet Evans, Philadelphia, PA; Joyce (Ozzie) Ford, North Augusta, SC; Deborah A. Carter, District Heights, MD; Kelly D. Carter, Sicklerville, NJ; one step daughter, Melissa (James) Hardy, Logansport; one step son, Patrick (Kelley) Good, Portland, OR; one brother, Stanley (Jesse) Carter, New Castle, DE; one sister, Thelma E. Washington, Philadelphia, PA; eighteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette O. Short, two brothers, Robert A. Carter and Brahin Ahmaddiya, one daughter, Donna Carter and one granddaughter, Tracy Robinson.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the Main Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Damon Soper officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church.
