Services for Donald DeVon âDonâ Spencer, 71, of Lucerne, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in Millerâs Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born May 17, 1934, in Cass County, he was the son of William H. and Dora Ann Griesey Spencer. He was married Dec. 21, 1952, in Logansport, to Edith âRosieâ Bliss, who survives.
Mr. Spencer retired from Kainâs Motors in 1984 after 33 years of service.
In his younger years, he drove a school bus and painted cars. He also farmed for most of his life.
Don enjoyed farming, horse shoes, tinkering in the barn, fishing, going to auctions, antiquing, gardening, and teasing the grandchildren. He always said he was blessed with a good wife and children who loved him very much.
Also surviving are two sons, Rick Spencer, Lucerne, and Bill Spencer, Burlington, Mich.; two daughters, Teena Birnell and her husband, Trace, Kewanna, and Vicki Eytcheson and her husband, Kenny, Fulton; two brothers, Edward Spencer and his wife, Berma, and James Spencer and his wife, Erma Jean, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Rickey Spencer and his wife, Jayme, Rochester, April Spencer, Royal Center, Jacob Spencer, Brett Spencer, Terra Snider and her husband, Jerry, Amber McPeak and her husband, Steven, all of Logansport, and Heather Mills and her husband, Bruce, Brownsburg, Gwin Hanna and her husband, Jim, Rossville, Troy Eytcheson, North Carolina, and Rachel and Bridgette Bonnell, Kewanna; 15 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna Spencer, Keaton and Bryce Mills, Brody and Conner Snider, Myles and Lance Hanna, Reese and Jayla Spencer, Breeze Spencer, Sabian Quaglio, and Elena, Chase and Olivia McPeak.
One daughter-in-law, Paula Spencer; one son-in-law, Dale Whiteman; five brothers, Francis, Virgil, Willis, Frederick and Ivan Spencer; and two sisters, Doris Gregor and Maybelle Howard, preceded in death.
The Rev. Bruce Frye will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
