Donald Yerkes

Donald R. Yerkes passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at ManorCare Health Services in King of
Prussia, PA. He was 84. Mr. Yerkes was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He worked as a System Road
Foreman for Conrail. Donald was a former member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church of Valley
Forge in Wayne, PA. He was also a member of Tipton Lodge No. 33 and A.A.S.R. Northern Masonic
Jurisdiction, USA. Donald was a past president of the Railway Fuel and Operating Officers Association.
Born in Logansport, IN on March 26, 1929, he was a son of the late Raymond L. and Ruth E. (Kuhn)
Yerkes. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 64 years, Jo Ellen (Galloway) Yerkes; 2 sons,
Donald S. Yerkes and his wife, Jan, of Mauston, WI and Mark “David” Yerkes and his wife, Beverly, of
Peru, IN; 2 daughters, Debra A. Dixon and her husband, Tom, of Zionsville, IN and Dina J. Smirga and her
husband, Chris, of Schwenksville, PA; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack A. Yerkes
and his wife, Sue, of Munster, IN; a sister, Diane K. Miller and her husband, Mark, of Carmel, IN; and many
nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erin Dixon. Donald's Memorial Service
will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202) Bridgeport, PA
19405 on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 12
to 12:50 pm, at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made in Donald's memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N.
