Donna Nadine Smith, age 87, of Walton, passed away Saturday July 4, 2020 at 3:15 am in Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.
Born April 3, 1933 in Cass County, IN to the late Darl and Avenell Mary (Cunningham) Stilwell. On December 30, 1951 in Monticello, IN she married Clare A. Swartz who preceded in death December 22, 1999. On March 7, 2008 in Logansport she married Walter J. “Junior” Smith Jr. who survives.
Donna retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992, serving as Post Master in Onward. She was a 1951 graduate of Royal Center High School. Donna enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with family. She was a Life member of V.F.W. Post #3790 Ladies Auxiliary, member of Miami Methodist Church in Miami, IN, member of the Walton United Methodist Church and attended the Onward Christian Church.
Other survivors including her husband Walter are one daughter, Nancy Lesley, Peru; three sons, Scott A. Swartz, Logansport; David (Shaunita) Swartz, Walton; Darl (Anna) Swartz, Warrington, PA; three step daughters, Cindy (Greg) Wengert, Logansport; Jill (Don) Rowe, Logansport; Tamara Smith, Indianapolis; one step son, Tim (Michelle) Smith, Indianapolis; three brothers, William (Linda) Stilwell, Logansport; Jerry (Barb) Stilwell, Logansport; Kenneth (Cathy) Stilwell, Royal Center; three sisters, Mary Jane (Bernie) Eisert, Monticello; Vyllis Bennett, Logansport; Jeanine (Harold) Berkshire, Monticello; 11 grandchildren, 8-step grandchildren, 7- great grandchildren and 3-step great grandchildren.
One son, Gregg Swartz, one daughter in law, Debra Swartz, two brothers, Jack & Richard Stilwell all preceded in death.
A private family service will be held in the Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Rod Mason officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at noon on Friday July 10, 2020 in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Onward Christian Church.
