Services for Dorothy Kathleen Dague, 87, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Metea Baptist Church.
She passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at her home near Grass Creek surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Cass County to Claude and Bertha (Guy) Hamon.
She graduated from Metea High School in 1941. She married Joseph W. Dague in 1941 in Connersville.
Dorothy and her husband, Joe, established their family farm in 1947 in partnership with Ivan Dague. Later, Dorothy and Joe farmed with the help of their children. After that they were in partnership in the dairy and grain farm with his son Jim and his wife Peggy for over 35 years.
Together, Joe and Dorothy were members of many farm organizations. In addition, Dorothy served on the Fulton County Welfare Board for several years. She also served with the Grass Creek Lions Club and went on Lions missions trips with her husband.
Dorothy was a member of Metea Baptist Church for well over 60 years and served different capacities in the American Baptist Women Organization.
In recent years she took great joy in spending time with her family and sitting on the front porch listening to the laughter of her grandkids and great-grandkids and watching them play.
Survivors include her children, Joseph E. Dague, Judith K. Uhrich (Robert), James L. Dague (Peggy), all of rural Kewanna, Jean Galloway (and late husband Jim), Hallettsville, Texas, and Jeffrey N. Dague (Lisa), Monticello; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; a son, John R. Dague; a daughter, June L. Schuler; and son-in-law Jim Galloway.
In recent years, she was blessed by the loving care of Stefanie Gotshall, Juanna Uhrich, Tatiana Berryman, Michelle Boucher and Sherry Purdue.
This life was a better place because we were loved by her.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Metea Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Somers, Chaplain Scott Ellison and Pastor William Cordes officiating. Burial will be in Metea Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today in Gundrum Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
