Dorothy Gast

Dorothy M. Gast, 101, of Logansport passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born March 7, 1913 in Star City, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Sadie (Royer) Hiatt. On December 7, 1933 in Star City she married Fred C. Gast who preceded in death on August 15, 2008.

Dorothy owned and operated her own Beauty Shop. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1943.

Dorothy and her husband have spent their winters in Florida since 1975, she was a 1931 graduate of Star City High School and hasn't missed an alumni reunion since then.

Surviving is one daughter, Shirley C. Thomas, Logansport; two grandsons, Brad Gast, Culver; Rob Gast, Rochester; one sister, Marietta Ruby; four great grandchildren, Devin and Chandler Gast, Culver; Cameron and Courtney Gast, Rochester; one great great grandson, Gabriel Gast, Culver; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Marvin Gast; one granddaughter, Cheryl Ann Thomas; and one daughter in law, Sue Gast.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Gundrum Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mount Hope cemetery.
