Dorothy Povrzenic

Dorothy “Dottie” Mae Povrzenic, 84, Logansport, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at St. Vincent Heart Hospital in Indianapolis.

Dottie was born April 6, 1928, in Gary to Oren Jessie Barnes and Mary Hayes. She married Roy Peter Povrzenic, Jr., on July 25, 1970, in Gary, who preceded her in death Sept. 29, 2001.

She was a prayer warrior. Dottie adored her great-grandchildren and reading the Bible. She enjoyed spending time with her Church of the Heartland family. She was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School in Gary.

Dottie is survived by son and daughter-in-law, the Revs. Jim and Michele Howard, Logansport; grandchildren Jamie (Ian) Irving, Royal Center, and Bryan (Christina) Howard, Hobart; adopted grandchildren Brandon Stack and Taylor Stack of Hobart; great-grandchildren Isaiah, Elliot, Bryan Jr., Arynne and Blaine; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Pleasac, and a daughter, Carol Ann.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Herb Hiatt officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport.

Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
