Eddie Lee Rhodes, 78, of Lucerne, IN, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 12, 2016. He was blessed to be surrounded by the love of family.
Eddie was born August 13, 1938 in Cass County to the late Beecher and Mary (Kochel) Rhodes. On March 30, 1979 he married Carol Ashley who survives. Eddie was also previously married Connie Kaufman.
Eddie is survived by his wife Carol, three sons, Randy (Cheri) Rhodes, Winstin-Salem, NC; Rodney (Tracy) Rhodes, Palatine, IL; Richard (Kristine) Rhodes, Logansport; three daughters, Elizabeth (Neal) Dominick, League City, Texas; Barbara (David) Schmidt, Boise, ID; Rachel (David) Galvin, Englewood, FL; one sister, Rosemary Swanson, Logansport; fourteen grandchildren, Jennifer Rhodes; Brianna Dominick; Erin (Lucas) Johnson; Rachel Rhodes; Ashlyn Rhodes; Matthew Rhodes; Michael Rhodes; Eric Rhodes; Audrey Rhodes; Bobbie Rhodes; Ricky Rhodes; Malcolm Heslin; Garrett Galvin and Wade Galvin.
One brother, Harry Rhodes, preceded in death.
Eddie stayed close to home and farmed most of his life in Kewanna and the Fletchers Lake area. He worked at the Exide Battery in Logansport and was a member of the Farm Bureau. In 1980 he started his own business called Rhodes Fence Builders which was his passion.
Those who loved and knew Eddie well…knew that he was a man of great faith and that he operated with steadfast integrity. The bible verse that best describes him is Proverbs 3:3… Don’t lose your grip on love and loyalty, tie them around your neck, carve their initials on your heart, earn a reputation for living well in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people”. Eddie live by the Word of God and walked the walk. He enjoyed singing and loved serving in the church.. He set an amazing example of perseverance and did every task with excellence. He recognized God in everything he did and acknowledged that God clearly blessed the work of his hands.
A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Logansport with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 3:00 PM until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
