Services for Edward J. Spencer, 84, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 in Millerâs Merry Manor.
Born Sept. 7, 1923, in Michigan, he was the son of William H. and Dora Ann Griesey Spencer. His first marriage was to Barbara L. Atherton, who preceded in death in June 1977. His second marriage was Aug. 15, 1981, in Logansport, to Burma L. Forrest, who survives.
Mr. Spencer owned and operated a Mobile Marathon service station in the Logansport area in the 1950s and also drove a tractor-trailer for 28 years.
He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union, Eagles Lodge 323 and Moose Lodge 232.
Also surviving are son, Harold Spencer and companion, Shari, Mansfield, Ohio; daughter, Gail Weiand and husband, Don, Lakeland, Fla.; stepdaughters, Teresa Basile and husband, Chris, and Patty Lock, all of Logansport; brother, Jim Spencer and wife, Erma Jean, Logansport; grandchildren, Ethan M. Spencer, Mansfield, Ohio, Shawn Jones and wife, Tami, and Tricia Swartzell and husband, Brad, all of Royal Center, Tina Devore and husband, David, Macomb, Mich., Shane Weiand and wife, Tammy, Shawn Weiand, and Kami Newberry and husband, Keith, all of Lakeland, Fla., Jason Smith, Nicole Smith and Josh Lock, all of Logansport; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death are six brothers, Francis, Virgil, Willis, Frederick, Ivan and Donald Spencer, two sisters, Doris Gregor and Maybelle Howard, and one stepson, Tony Toluson.
Pastor Richard Utterback will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
