Eric Nichols

Eric D. Nichols, 70, of Logansport, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, in his residence, surrounded by his family and friends.

Born on September 11, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Eric is the son of the late Donald E. and Violet Nichols.  On December 1, 1973, in Logansport, Eric married the love of his life, Sherry Ann Widner who survives.

Eric worked as the plant manager for Transco Railway Products for 44 years.  He loved riding his Harley Davidson, drag racing, working on cars, traveling, Mexican food and spending time with his family and friends.  He was a member of the NHRA and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts fan. Eric also loved attending his grandson’s sporting events.

Surviving Eric along with his wife, Sherry, are two daughters, Michelle (Daniel) Nichols-Elliott of Logansport; Shelly (Russell) Rutledge of Peru; two grandsons, Dylan Elliott and Wyatt Nichols; one brother, four sisters, and his favorite cat Jack.

He was preceded in death by one sister, and two brothers.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Chaplain Michael Eavey Officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
