Ernest A. Norlin, 82, Logansport, died at 2:35 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at his residence.
Born May 10, 1928, in Dollar Bay, Mich., he was the son of Axel Elof and Ina L. Johnson Norlin. He was married Oct. 8, 1977, in Logansport, to Kathryn M. Gallaher, who survives.
Ernie retired in 1974 from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of service.
He had also served as the Cass County public health sanitarian for 10 years.
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Cass County Historical Society, Logansport Lions Club, Retired Indiana Public Employees Association, International Lutheran Laymenâs League, VFW Post 3790, American Legion Post 60, Air Force Association, The Retired Enlisted Association and National Association of Uniformed Service. Ernie had also served as president of the Cass County Council on Aging, Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Cass County Mental Health Association.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn M. Norlin, Logansport; son, Mark S. Aaron and wife, Laurie, Houston; stepdaughter, Ann Powell and husband, Jay, Peru; stepsons, Mark Nethercutt and wife, Jan, Columbus, Eric Nethercutt and wife, Dee, Defiance, Ohio, Kurt Nethercutt and wife, Sharon, Kewanna, and Kris Nethercutt, Franklin, Tenn.; brothers, Arthur Norlin and wife, Jan, Oregon, Richard Norlin, Dollar Bay, Mich., and Robert Norlin and wife, Joyce, Oregon; sisters, Esther Mackler, North Carolina, Alice Koch and husband, Kenneth, Iron Mountain, Mich., and Lucille Grewe, Colorado; two grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Chester; and two sisters, Margaret and Irene.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastors Marvin Hinkle and K.C. Dehning officiating. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Gundrum Funeral Home and one hour before services Monday at the church.
