Esther R. Lyons

Services for Esther R. Lyons, 88, Logansport, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, in WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born Oct. 1, 1920, in Cass County, she was the daughter of Harry Spitznogle and Derena Agnes Radkey. She was married June 11, 1949, in Logansport, to Jack A. Lyons, who preceded in death Oct. 5, 2006.

Esther retired from Logansport Memorial Hospital in 1985 after 25 years as a registered nurse working in the OB Department. Prior employment included work at Northwestern and St. Luke’s hospitals in Chicago.

She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s group of the church. Esther was a graduate of the Lafayette Home Hospital and the Chicago, St. Luke’s Hospital School of X-ray.

Surviving are daughter, Jill Lamb, Irvine, Calif.; sons, T. Jack Lyons and partner, Reb McMichael, Jackson, Miss., and David Lyons and Huong, Washington D.C.; sister, Kay Burney, Omaha, Neb.; grandsons, Nicholas Lamb and Evan Lamb, both of California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Benson, Janet Cree and Helen Leffert.

Rev. Keith Schreffler will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
