Evelyn (Jenny) Miller Luxenberg, 78, of Logansport, passed away on the 11th day of December 2024.
Born on September 3, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, Evelyn is the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Hurley) Miller and wife of the late Dr. Edwin R. Luxenberg. Surviving are daughters, Amy (Bill) Christensen of Logansport; Robin (Jim) Petkovich of Greenwood; sons, Jeffrey (Sarah) Luxenberg of Logansport; and Michael Luxenberg of Leander, TX; and grandchildren, Joey and Madison Christensen; Hunter and Austin Petkovich; and Grayson Long.
Evelyn was a homemaker and worked for several years at various stores in the community including Bath and Body Works and The Sunshine Shop. She also owned and operated the Bargain Center in Logansport. She was an active parishioner at St. Vincent De Paul Church and then All Saints Catholic Church, serving several years as a Eucharistic minister and member on the Parish Council.
In addition to her faith and family, Evelyn loved Christmas, and her annual decorations were enjoyed throughout the community.
A private family burial was held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport. Gundrum Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family has kindly requested donations be made to her husband’s foundation, the Dr. Edwin R. Luxenberg Foundation, P.O. Box 742, Logansport, IN 46947. This foundation was established to honor and celebrate Dr. Luxenberg’s legacy serving the mental and physical health needs of children and their families by supporting local organizations and providing scholarships to students pursuing a career in healthcare.
