Frances Marie Hamilton, 95, of Willcox, AZ (formerly of Logansport, IN), passed away on June 6th, 2022, while being cared for by her loving daughter, Sue Williams.
Fran was born June 4th, 1927, in Pulaski to farmers Frank and Katie (Foerg) Worley and was the oldest of six children. Life on the family farm with her siblings deeply shaped her as she learned the importance of having a laugh while performing hard work. She had a famous cackle and kept in routine touch with her siblings despite the miles between them. Surviving are Agnes (Jim) Houk of Edwardsburgh, MI and Dorothey (Roger) Beauchamp of rural Rochester, IN. Preceding her in death were sisters Mary (Bill) Webb & Alma (Ken) McFarland (both of Winamac) and her brother Fred (Virginia) Worley of Porter, IN.
Fran graduated from Pulaski High School in 1945 and moved to Logansport, IN where she began work as a waitress at The Diner. Soon after, she would experience one of the favorite stories she loved to share, when she famously whistled at a handsome dark-haired man who was driving by her apartment. Luckily he stopped his car and on December 27th, 1947, Frances married the apple of her eye, Steve Hamilton, of Logansport, IN who preceded her in death in 2007, three months before their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they had three children: Gordon (Sally Heishman) of Sebring, FL; Donald who preceded her in death in 2009, and Suzanne Williams of Willcox, AZ. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Angie (Ben) Mason of Indianapolis, John (Becky) Williams of Modesto, CA, Chris (Stacy) Williams of Vail, AZ, Neil (Kari) Hamilton of Winamac, Amy Webb of Bethlehem, PA, Aaron (Theresa) Hamilton of Burnettsville, and Shanna Hamilton of Walton, IN, as well as several great grandchildren.
In addition to working full time up until her retirement from Federal Mogul in 1989, Fran found many joys in her free time including a bowling league, a card playing club, gardening, and bird watching, especially cardinals. But perhaps two of the things she’ll be remembered for the most was her uncanny ability to remember and acknowledge family members’ birthdays with a card that always arrived early and the beautiful, hand beaded Christmas ornaments she made for many, many years. To visit her beautifully decorated home in December was a treat many won’t soon forget.
An avid photo taker, Fran was usually behind the camera at family events, so we’d love her friends & family to share any photos of her here on the Gundrum Funeral Home website to help supplement the family’s collection of her life in pictures.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 14th at the Gundrum Funeral Home with Deacon Andrew Morand officiating. A visitation will be held from 11am until time of services on Tuesday. A burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
