Francys Smith

Francys "Fran" Marie Smith, 86, of Logansport, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 7:45 PM at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born April 15, 1927 in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Leone and Isabel (Yeager) Cotner. On April 17, 1948 in Logansport, she married George E. Smith who preceded in death on January 12, 2004.

Fran retired in 1982 after 24 years at General Tire Company. She was a volunteer for many years at Logansport Memorial Hospital. She was an avid shopper with her gal pal, Christina Bailey Smith, and could easily carry a conversation with anyone. Fran was a member of Wheatland Ave. United Methodist Church since she was 17. She also cherished her two miniature Doxins, Daisy and Lukey.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Davis; and Nancy Viney; son, Tom (Betty) Smith; sister in law, Betty Cotner, all of Logansport; four grandchildren, Robert Hinkle, Las Vegas, NV; Ben Smith, Mt. Vernon, IN; Brandon (Lori) Davis, Oswego, IL; Amy Zeider, Logansport; four great grandchildren, Laney Smith, Carter Davis, Allen Sheron, and Rigley Sheron.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, two great grandsons, Chase Smith and Holden Fife, and one granddaughter, Sarah Ross.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, September 9, 2013 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Carolyn DeWitt officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until the time of service on Monday.
