Frederick Jeffers

Frederick A. Jeffers Jr., 86, Logansport, died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born September 7, 1926, in Kokomo, he was the son of Frederick A. Jeffers Sr. and Angeline Gardner.

On January 3, 1981in Monon, IN, Fred married Anne McCall Weaver, who survives.

Fred retired from Conrail Railroad, where he had worked as a Trainman and a Conductor. He was a member of the American Legion Post #60, V.F.W. Post #3790, Habitat For Humanity and the Cass County Veterans Service Council. Fred was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the Church of the Brethren and attended the Clymer's United Methodist Church.

Other survivors include three step sons, Kyle McCall, Lafayette, Brian McCall, Remington, Richard (Brenda) Rossi, Logansport; five step daughters, Karen (Tom) Bowsher, Buffalo, Laurie (Jim) Klisz, Fremont, OH, Barbara (Tim) Day, Noblesvile, Presta (Damon) Graber, Greentown and Ruth Blevins; several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Fry and Anna Martin,

A service of celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Speicher officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Full military rites will be performed by the Veterans Service Council prior to his funeral service.

Following Fred's wishes a Cremation will be handled by the Cass County Crematory of Logansport and his cremains will be buried in the Bell Center Cemetery.
