Services for Gareth A. “Gary” Packard, 74, Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, in St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Indianapolis.

Born Dec. 27, 1932, in Cass County, he was the son of Arrol E. and Margaret Skelton Packard. He was married Sept. 20, 1952, in Logansport, to Doris A. Samuels, who survives.

A 1950 graduate of Young America High School, Gary retired after 42 years with White-Rodgers.

He was a member of Miami Baptist Church, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events.

Also surviving are sons, David A. Packard and wife, Jan, Logansport, and Thomas A. Packard and wife, Terry, Fishers; one daughter, Debra A. Shepler and husband, William H., Logansport; one brother, Dale Packard and wife, Dorothy, Logansport; three sisters, Betty Vetor and husband, Earl, Anderson, Shari Wood and husband, Leslie, Louisville, Ky.; and Linda Kemp and husband, Bob, Brownsburg; grandsons, William T. Shepler, Lafayette, Joshua Shepler and wife, Lucy, Englewood, Colo., David A. Packard II, Windermere, Fla., Elliot Packard, Flora, Donald Klotz III, Indianapolis, and Ryan Conrad and wife, Deanna, Bloomington; granddaughters, Alyssa Packard and Lauren Packard, both of Indianapolis, Emma Packard, Flora, Sarah Denham, Duluth, Ga., and Audrey Denham, West Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Sam Conrad, Jedd Conrad, Gus Conrad and Duke Conrad, all of Bloomington; one uncle, Charles Conrad, Adamsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Doug Ohime will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before services Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Miami Baptist Church.
