George Smith

George Thomas Smith, 82, Logansport, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born Aug. 25, 1928, in Sciotoville, Ohio, he was the son of James and Tillie Smith. He was married Jan. 5, 1968, in Logansport, to Anna May Smith, who preceded in death Oct. 6, 2008.

George retired from Rockwell International and the U.S. Air Force, where he had served his country for 23 years.

He was a member of VFW Post 3790 and American Legion Post 60.

Surviving are sons, George Michael Smith and wife, Tanya Eller, Fort Wayne, Terry Smith and wife, Carol Linkous, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Richard Allen Smith and wife, Laura Miller, Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Knepp officiating.

Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
