George Voglund

George L. Voglund, 91, of Logansport, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born on June 7, 1924 in Kentland, IN he was the son of the late Leslie and Lottie (Atkinson) Voglund.  On May 17, 1947 in Oxford, Indiana he married Mary E. Hewitt who preceded in death on March 11, 2000.  On February 9, 2002 in Logansport he married Ruth (Huston) Bryant who survives.

George retired from Conrail Railroad in 1984.  He was a member of Life Gate Church, the American Legion Post #60, V.F.W Post #3790, Voiture #729 40 & 8 and was a WW2 Army Veteran serving in the European and Asiatic Pacific Theater.  George was a 1942 graduate of Kentland High School.

Surviving along with his wife, Ruth Voglund, is a daughter Georgene (Mike) Tedlock; son, Steven (Debra) Voglund, both of Logansport; six step daughters, Becky Wade, Logansport; Robin (Jay) Carter, Canton, GA; Denise (Todd) Walters, Westfield; Sue Byrnes-Motel, Addison, IL; Catherine Wade, Chicago, IL; Kimberly (Mark) Burr, Downers Grove, IL; seven grandchildren, Kevin Kinsey, Fishers; Robert (Autumn) Kinsey, Mandeville, LA; Beth (Brian) Johnson, Flora; Kellie Voglund, Bradley Voglund, Amy (Mitch) Werner, all of Logansport; Jamie Voglund, Iron Mountain, MI; twelve step grandchildren, Paige (John) Humphries, Killen, TX; Sylvia (Zeke) Smith, Indianapolis; Jacquelynn Burr, Downers Grove, IL; Michael (Jenn) Pozzie, Melrose Park, IL; Samuel, Oliver, Isabelle and Harrison Crain, all of Logansport; Payton and Lindsay Walters, Westfield; Christy (Trent) McCarver, Warren, IN; Leslie (Rob) Knapp, Silverdale, WA; nine great grandchildren, Ashton Shideler, Griffin Humm-Voglund, Harrison Werner, Charlotte Werner, Franklin Voglund, Max Kinsey, Finn Kinsey, Isaac Johnson, Gavin Johnson; nine step great grandchildren, Fallon and Lainey Humphries; Kylie and Mike Pozzie; Kayla, Cam, and Cole McCarver; Joseph and Riley Knapp.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Voglund, one sister, Opal Yates, and one step son in law, Jim Motel.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 19 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Minnick officiating. Burial with full Military Rites will be held at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
