Georgia Banta Henry, 79, Logansport, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, in Millerâs Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born Oct. 19, 1930, in Logansport, she was the daughter of George V. and Cleo Terrell Banta.
Georgia formerly worked for Banta Farms, Banta Orchard, Superior Parts, National Friction and Steve Taylor Auto Sales.
She was a member of Pisgah Church, American Legion Post 60 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 3790 Ladies Auxiliary and The Logansport Elkettes. She was a 1948 graduate of Logansport High School and attended Purdue University. She was a former volunteer for Meals On Wheels and the Cass County Carousel.
Georgia loved her family and delighted in having all of them together as often as possible. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her beautiful flower beds and feeding and watching birds, especially her beloved hummingbirds.
Georgia was a friend to everyone, offering a listening ear, kind words and assistance whenever it was needed. She never knew a stranger because, according to her, they were just friends waiting to be met.
Georgia was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are son, Rod Henry and wife, Benita, Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Ryan Henry and wife, Ashley, Plainfield, Jamie Siple and husband, Tim, Rick Henry, Anderson, and Katie Anderson and husband, Jared, Indianapolis; and one great-grandson, Eli Siple.
She was preceded in death by one son, Tom Henry Jr.; and two sisters, Shirley Hand and Kathryn Myers.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Carousel or the Cass County Relay For Life.
