Services for Geraldine I. Thompson, 86, Carmel, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2110 N. Third St. in Logansport.

She died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Royal Center, she was the daughter of Jesse B. and Nellie Conn Hand. On May 23, 1943, she was married to Jay Worth Thompson, who preceded in death May 26, 2006.

She worked at the H. W. Gossard Company in Logansport as a young woman, but was most grateful for the many lives she had the opportunity to influence raising her three children, teaching Sunday School and working for the Purdue Extension Service in Cass County as a nutrition consultant.

For many years she also helped with Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Tel-A-Story program and 5-Day Clubs.

She was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis, and a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and Broadway Methodist Church in Logansport.

She is survived by one son, Jay Michael and wife, Darlene, Indianapolis; two daughters, Rebecca Jane Thompson, Indianapolis, and Lissa Jill and husband, Edward Bachman, St. Louis, Mo.; a special adopted daughter, Dr. Nell Collins, Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Melissa, Elizabeth and husband, Nathan Renbarger, and Jay W. Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Elizabeth, Esther and Andrew Renbarger.

One son, Ronald Leroy; one daughter, Susan Ruth; and two brothers, Oliver G. and J. Richard “Dick” Hand, preceded in death.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc., Six County Chapter, 2213 E. Vaile Ave., Kokomo IN 46901-5604, and to Hope In Crisis Cancer Ministry, 8140 Union Chapel Road, Indianapolis IN 46240.
