Harold R. "Hal" Douglass, 89, of Logansport, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 in his residence.
Born on October 10, 1926 in Nappanee, IN he was the son of the late Harley E. and Daisy E. (Wilson) Douglass. On August 25, 1973 in Burnetsville he married Helen "Karen" Hellyer who survives.
Harold worked at Chrysler until he opened Douglass Body Shop, he ran the body shop for over 55 years. Harold was a WWII United States Army Veteran. While in the Army he was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victor Medal. He raced sprint cars, open wheel cars, enjoyed mowing the lawn, working on cars at home, and was crazy about his grandchildren. Harold was past Commander at the American Legion and a member of the V.F.W.
Surviving along with his wife Helen "Karen" Douglass, is a daughter, Sherri (Jason) Dugger, Shelbyville, KY; grandchildren, Chas Baker, Nikki Dugger, and Camron Dugger; three sisters, Carol Lott, Kokomo; Lois Turner, Kokomo; and Doris Norwood, Bradenton, FL.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Gross officiating. Burial with full Military Graveside Rites will be held in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
