Harold "Link" Rivers

Harold L. “Link” Rivers, 85, Logansport, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Memorial Hospital, Logansport.  A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the Gundrum Funeral Home.

Born on February 12, 1931, in Logansport, he was the son of Clyde and Mae (Butz) Rivers.  He was married on April 15, 1955, to Gretchen Rhody who preceded him in death on March 23, 2008.

Link was retired from Rockwell International.  He was a member of American Legion Post #60, V.F.W. Post #3790, Moose Lodge #232, and Elks Lodge #66.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Link played softball for many years and embellished stories of the “great teams and players” he had the pleasure of being a part of for many years.  He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed watching golf, college football and basketball, and pro football on TV.  He was also a lifelong “disappointed” Cub Fan.  His greatest joy was seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and telling them“corny jokes.”

Surviving are one daughter, Deb (Mark) Martin, Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Steve (Jaqueline) Rivers, Logansport; Greg (Deb) Fisher, Logansport; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Lowe, Ryan Fisher, Kyle Rivers, Amy Rivers, Meghan Martin, Matt Martin, Ashley (Taylor) Ferguson, Taylor Martin, and Kelsey Martin; and five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, four sisters, and a great grandson preceded him in death.

A private burial will take place in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
