Helen Abshire

Helen L. Abshire, 94, Logansport, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born March 26, 1918, in Twelve Mile, she was the daughter of Clark Lewis and Glen Sausaman. She was married Oct. 27, 1963, in Logansport, to John A. Abshire, who preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1994.

She was a retired owner of Helen’s Beauty Salon.

She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and VFW Post 3790 Ladies Auxiliary. Helen was a graduate of Metea High School and a 1957 graduate of Rudae’s Beauty College.

Surviving are daughters, Roselie M. Reed, Onward, and Eldona L. Fox and husband, Donald, Logansport; close friend, Sharon Bridge, Logansport; stepson, Curtis Harmon Abshire, Willis, Texas; sister, Bernice Burns, Denver; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Zartman and Dorothy Gwin; one daughter, Normalou Ashby; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Teri White officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Twelve Mile.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
