Bowles, Helen (Edwards), 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Pilgrim Manor in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Helen was a former resident of Logansport and has been living in Grand Rapids since 1959. Helen was born in Logansport, Indiana. She was the daughter of Merrill and Grace Bradley Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Paul, Robert and Richard (Dick) Edwards, and her 2 sisters Dorothy and Betty (Edwards) Stanton and brother–in-law Joseph Stanton. One grandchild, Jacob Wynn Boggs, also preceded her in death.

Helen is survived by her husband of 59 years Richard F. Bowles and her children: Carole Ann Johnson, Tim (Kathy) Freewind, and Betsy (Jeff) Boggs. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren: Major Todd A. Johnson, Andrew P. Johnson, Tyler (Sarah) Boggs, Kaitlin Freewind, Evan Boggs, Kara Freewind, and Alexus Boggs. Helen was also blessed to have had 6 great grandchildren, Brendan, Erin, Colin, Patrick, Moira, and Emma Johnson. One sister-in-law, Jean Edwards, one brother-in-law David Bowles both of Logansport and many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Helen enjoyed shopping and traveling. She and Dick visited almost every state in the union, and many provinces in Canada, over the course of their marriage. Helen worked as phone operator over the years in both Logansport and Grand Rapids. Helen always loved Logansport, she shared many stories of growing up in this small Indiana town and will rest in peace knowing that she will return there to be with her parents, and brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will take place in Logansport, IN on Saturday May 19th with services being held at 11:00 AM at Gundrum Funeral Home with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery directly following the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday.Pastor Dean Fager will be officiating the service.
