Helen Jo Willis, long time resident of Logansport, Indiana, left this world peacefully at age 93 on July 6, 2010 and went to a better place to join her many family members and friends that went before her.
She was born February 3, 1917 in Monon, Indiana, she was the daughter of Sara (Fisher) and Arthur Case.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her sons, Donald and David, and her only sister Thyra (Case) Witmyer. She is survived by her daughter Janet Willis Sergeant and Son Gary, as well as 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren , and 1 great great grandchild.
She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church.
Helen loved to play bridge with her âbridge clubâ and was a charter member of the Washington Twp. 49ers E.H. Club.
She, with her husband, owned Robert Willis Horse Racing Stable and they raised and raced standard bred horses for many years.
She rode horses as a young woman and raised her children to love and ride them as well
Helen had many vocations including owning and operating the South Side Laundry on the corner of 3rd and Main, working at the Pharos Tribune, a bookkeeper for several organizations, and finally a bookkeeper at the Senior Center which she retired at the age of 85.
She was never bashful in saying what was on her mind and her candor will be missed and will bring smiles for many years to come.
Friends and family may share in a viewing from 10 AM until Noon on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Gundrum Funeral Home. A ceremony will follow immediately after. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
