Howard O. Helvie, 95, of Logansport, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 in The Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.
Born March 26 1919 in White County, IN, Howard was the son to the late Walter and Emma (Andrews) Helvie.
He was married on November 5, 1938 in Burnettsville, IN to Clare V. Helvie, who preceded in death April 5, 1995.
Howard was a retired truck driver for Kain's Motor Service Corporation with eighteen years of service. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and a WWII United States Army Veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee Helvie and wife Joan, Valparaiso, IN; Walter Wayne Helvie and wife Twila; daughter in law, Sherry Helvie, both of Columbia City, IN; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gene Helvie, two grandchildren, one brother, and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 12, 2014 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Dr. Horace Smith and Pastor Mike Helvie officiating.
Burial will be in Crooked Creek Christian Cemetery near Royal Center.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2014 and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the Logansport Church of the Nazarene, or the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, IN.
