Howard E. Woodke, 99, Logansport, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 16, 1910, in Lowell, Ind., he was the son of Edward Woodke and Miranda Werblo. On Dec. 30, 1936, in Kankakee, Ill., he married Edith “Dee” Hickman, who preceded in death April 17, 1962.

Howard was a retired farmer from the Star City area. He enjoyed playing cards and dancing. He was looking forward to his 100th birthday.

Howard was a lifetime member of the Logansport Eagles Lodge #323 and member of the American Legion Post #60.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Jane Stangle and husband Dave, Kewanna, and Louise Browning and husband Ron, Walton; sons, John Howard Woodke and wife Sally, Walton, Richard Woodke and wife Andi, Logansport, Roger Dean Woodke and wife Cheryl, Royal Center, and Larry G. Woodke and wife Carleen, Logansport; brother, Gerald Woodke, Rensselear; sister, Gladys Osborn, Hebron; 12 grandchildren, Janie Hattery and husband Troy, Jenny Cohagan and husband Wade, David Stangle, Ron Browning Jr. and wife Lisa, Lynette Baber and husband Roger, Renee Schmidt and husband Sean, Eric Woodke and wife Maria, Jerry Woodke and wife Heather, Danny Woodke and wife Suzanne, Tammy Berkshire and husband Norm and Tina Ramsey and husband Mike; several step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Three sisters, three half sisters, three brothers and a granddaughter preceded in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gundrum Funeral Home, with Pastor Ryan Lewellen officiating. Burial will be in Star City West Cemetery.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
