Howard "Sonny" Berkshire

Howard E. “Sonny” Berkshire, 86, of Logansport, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Born on November 30, 1934, in Logansport, Sonny is the son of the late Quincy and Violet (Kerns) Berkshire.  On November 9, 1971, in Logansport, he married Lynne L. Rehwald who preceded in death on December 14, 2017.

Sonny was a truck driver for Gangloff and Downham for many years. He had also drove for Louisville Cement & Collins Moving Systems.

Surviving are two sons, Tony Berkshire of Logansport; Scott (Tracy) Berkshire of Amboy, IN; three daughters, Brenda (Matt) Clark of Galveston; Cindy Smith of Logansport; Susan (Lee Hamilton) Hollis of Royal Center; two sisters, Sue Blackwood of Largo, FL; Rhonda (Max) Trapp of Royal Center; two brothers, John “Dick” (Vada) Berkshire of Royal Center; William “Jay Bill” (Sharon) Berkshire of Kokomo; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Dean Berkshire, James Berkshire, Donald Berkshire, one sister, Marjorie Kesling, one grandchild, Shawn McLochlin and one great grandchild, Brendon Carden.

A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Weil officiating. A private burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of service on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Cass County Humane Society.
