Services for Ira Merton Maudlin, 91, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
He died at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in New Harmonie Healthcare Center in New Harmony.
Born July 2, 1915, in Logansport, he was the son of George and Emma Holsinger Maudlin. He was married Sept. 1, 1940, in Logansport, to Dorothy Marcella Hardy, who preceded in death April 29, 2000.
Mr. Maudlin was a field supervisor for Davey Tree Company from the late 1930s to 1948 in Lancaster, Ohio. He then returned to Bethlehem Township to farm and sell cleaning services for Maibenâs Dry Cleaners in Logansport until 1971. He was appointed Regional Manager (Northwest) for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for 10 years.
A 1933 graduate of Metea High School, he attended the Matriculated Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill.
He was an elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher and member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of Tipton Masonic Lodge No. 33 F&AM, Ohio York Rite in Lancaster, Ohio, and Toastmasterâs. He was a former Bethlehem Township Republican Precinct committeeman.
Mert loved his family, the church and the Republican Party. He regularly attended daily coffee/current events meetings around Cass County.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
Surviving are four sons, Ray Merton Maudlin and his wife, Sheryll, Jacksonville, Fla., Mark Hardy Maudlin and his wife, Mary Sue, Fort Wayne, John Alan Maudlin and his wife, Ellen, Lake Mary, Fla., and Nathan B. Maudlin and his wife, Jeanne, New Harmony; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
One sister, Margaret Carr, preceded in death.
Pastor Jay Cline will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
